"Biliri and the Empty Vase" is a play that mixes real actors with animated puppets that simulate the chinese shadow theater. In Birdo we worked animating the shadow puppets that interact with the actors from a projection in the center of the stage. Our biggest challenge was to use the cut-out animation technique to recreate the effect of the traditional shadow puppetry from China.
Coordinating our efforts was the great Amir Admoni, who was also responsible for the rest of the beautiful visual effects in the show. Leo Gibran took care of the character and background designs and the play's director is Ricardo Karmann.
The play had it's first season at "Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil" in São PAulo, from 9th July to 14th August. |
